Raising Boys Into Men — And Silence Is Not a Strategy

Manhood is under attack. And if manhood is under attack, so are our boys — because boys become men one day at a time.
I created the Valiant Man course for adult men living in a highly sexualised world. A course built on a renewed vision of manhood — one that goes beyond good intentions to produce men equipped to be faithful and true under pressure. But the more I worked with men, the more I realised something urgent: what was designed for adult men must now be adapted for growing boys.
The smartphone has changed everything.
Sexualised material that was completely inaccessible in my boyhood is now the daily diet for boys as young as those in kindergarten. Raising boys into men needs our help. I believe they will rise to the challenge, if we are willing to break the silence and give them what they need.
Boys are in crisis. The same smartphone in every child's pocket has made pornography — a drug as powerful as crack cocaine to the developing brain — the primary sex educator for boys as young as kindergarten. Add to that the biology of testosterone, an underdeveloped frontal lobe, and a culture selling a toxic version of manhood, and you have a generation of boys with no map and no guide. The Young Valiant Man course exists to change that — by giving boys the truth about who they are, what they're up against, and what a real man actually looks like. But the course only works if men show up as fathers. Sons need more than instruction. They need us.

A Plea to the Men Who Are Reading This
The Young Valiant Man course is a tool to equip fathers, parents, grandparents and leaders to raise boys that will serve the next generation.
For this course to hit the bull's eye, it will require more than boys willing to learn. It will require men — men who may be painfully aware of their own inadequacies — who are willing to embrace their calling to fatherhood. Men who will humbly form a partnership with the sons of this generation and deliberately walk together with them in faith, hope, and love.
The source of Jesus' confidence as he lived out his calling was the affirmation of his Father.
Our boys need the same from us.
Sons need fathers. Fathers need sons. And both need instruction.
Can we rise to the challenge that the young men of the future now present to us?
